Leeds Classic Bus Runday

On Sunday 20th August 2017 the Middleton Railway will be participating in the 4th Leeds Classic Bus Runday, which this year is organised jointly by Black Prince Buses and Classic Connections (who operate the Wallace Arnold heritage fleet).

This year the buses will just run on one route, and the event will be based at the Thwaite Mills museum.  From there the buses will run via the Middleton Railway, Leeds bus station (New York St.) and Leeds railway station (stop Z1) to Armley Mills Industrial Museum.  They will then return via Leeds city centre, New York Street, and the Middleton Railway, to terminate at Thwaite Mills.

All the participating museums, including the railway, will be open all day to receive visitors and all sites will allow free "park and ride" facilities for visitors.

The first bus services from the railway will depart at 09.50 towards the centre of Leeds and 09.55 towards Thwaite Mills.  At the end of the day buses will connect with the 16.25 arrival, and the last ones will depart from the railway about 30 minutes later.

All these heritage services will be free and will be operated by a variety of vintage and classic buses. There will, however, be an A5 souvenir timetable that will be available to purchase on the day and volunteers will be encouraging visitors to purchase one.  This is not obligatory, but the funds raised will help towards the high cost of staging the event.
